The ebook is a computer file which, after payment, will be sent down the wires to your computer. Mr Darcy cannot cope with the fact that some of this may, in reality, be wireless. The normal format is PDF and this requires an Adobe Acrobat Reader piece of software so that the file can be viewed. Mr Darcy was surprised to find that these files are so common that most users will already have the Reader on their computer. If they haven't, it can easily be obtained free from www.adobe.com

Mr Darcy likes his books at normal book size 6 by 9 inches (approx 15 by 23 centimetres) so the download is offered in that form, but it has been pointed out to him that most computer and printer systems work with A4 size paper and that there will be less pages. So some ebooks are also offered in A4 size. The ebook can be read from the computer screen (many of the younger people seem not to mind this) or a single copy can be printed out for those who like to hold the real thing. The book comes with the cover design so that this can be put around the contents.

Tip: To print on both sides of the paper set your printer to print the 'odd' pages in the normal order ie page 1 first. Most printers will produce the pages with the printed side up and then place the next sheet on top of the first. Normally this is a nuisance but can be exploited here. Let the printer produce all the 'odd' pages and then turn over the stack and print the 'even' pages. At the top of the stack it will print page 2 on the back of page 1 and so on. When finished you will have the complete book, printed on both sides of the paper; and in the correct order!

Clever Mr Darcy.
